We discovered our filed Form 8865 was incomplete. Can we send a corrected form by itself, or does it need an amended return?

I am a U.S. filer with a reporting obligation tied to a foreign partnership, and after filing we realized one of the required schedules was wrong. The missing information does not change the basic ownership story, but it does mean the originally filed package was incomplete. We are trying to fix the problem fast, not debate whether the mistake was serious.

What we do not want to do is send the IRS the wrong kind of correction. If the instructions require a corrected Form 8865 to be filed together with an amended return and a change statement, I would rather do that correctly now than submit a loose corrected form that does not actually satisfy the repair rules.
