I am a Canadian citizen working in the U.S. on a TN visa under the USMCA agreement. I work as a management consultant for my TN employer, but I also want to start my own consulting LLC on the side. Can TN visa holders own and operate a separate LLC? What are the tax implications given that Canada and the U.S. have a tax treaty? I am worried about violating my TN status while also wanting to grow my own business.
