I am traveling constantly and may be abroad near the deadline. Can a U.S. agent sign my Form 1040-NR for me?
I am a founder from Argentina who spent most of the year moving between countries. My Form 1040-NR will be ready on time, but there is a decent chance I will be in transit and unable to sign physically close to the filing date. My U.S. accountant mentioned the possibility of an agent signing in some situations.
I do not want to assume a preparer can just sign because it is convenient. If the IRS requires a specific statement that I will be outside the U.S. and Puerto Rico for at least 60 days before the due date, I want to know that now so we can avoid a signature problem at the last minute.
