We missed the 60-day window for updating the responsible party. Is late Form 8822-B still worth filing?

The control change happened a while ago, and only now did someone on our side realize the IRS expects responsible-party changes to be reported within 60 days. That obviously means we are late. My instinct is still to correct the record, but I want to know whether late filing is actually useful or whether the missed timing makes the update less meaningful.

What I care about most is getting the IRS file accurate again. If the best move is still to send Form 8822-B promptly and preserve the timeline of what happened, I would rather do that than let the record remain wrong simply because we already missed the ideal window.
