Etsy says it remits U.S. sales tax for me. Do I still need to think about U.S. state filings at all?
I sell handmade products from Turkey through an Etsy shop using a New Mexico LLC. Etsy's help center says it automatically calculates, collects, and remits U.S. sales tax when marketplace rules apply. Nearly all my U.S. orders go through Etsy and total revenue is about $70,000 a year.
My question is whether I can basically ignore state sales tax because Etsy handles it, or whether there are still reasons to keep tracking state activity on my side.
